Commissioned by LeftBank Pictures for ITV Jake was asked to create the soundtrack to this biopic drama feature. The brief was to cover the era of Tommy Coopers professional life. This spanned the end of music hall through the era of light entertainment and into the 1980’s with excursions into Europe to be accommodated too.
The score required a broad range of ensembles to cover all the styles. Big Band and Orchestra for the music hall and light entertainment styles, a 60’s rock band, Italian cafe orchestra, pop band for the 80’s and various underscore ensembles. Recorded at RAK and mixed at Air Studios.
The film won a Bafta with critic AA Gill describing the score as “classy and evocative” in the Sunday Times.
